Michael Baldwin
With aspirations to become an editor Mike started at Rushes under the wing of respected commercial editor Warren Meneely and watched. A lot.
After a stint as a tape-op and edit assistant, Michael flew the Rushes nest to become a freelance editor, working mainly on music videos and television promos.
Then he got the urge to direct. Having already shot a charming little no budget video for his mates' band, Alfie, he directed a test clip for London based XFM radio. The resulting commercial was profiled in Shots magazine and show at their 'Evolutions' New Director showcase in both New York and Athens.
Still editing full time, Michael gradually built up a solid body of work. Meanwhile, he won the first Cutlets award set up by advertising agency BBH, and then shot a commercial for the Toronto Herald with award winning creatives Dave Masterson and Ed Edwards.
His profile in the music video industry was raised last year when he shot the comeback video for Travis. Filmed in LA, the video featured a cameo from Ben Stiller, who agreed to do it. That video was nominated at the CADS and more recently has been nominated for an MVPA award.
When he can, he still edits his own work as that was his first love but equally enjoys sharing a suite with another editor!
He is currently delivering a triptych of promos for three different bands including hot tip for 2008 Island Records' 'Attic Lights'.
